Rossi takes pole after Márquez errors

– Yamaha's Valentino Rossi claimed pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix after Repsol Honda rider Marc Márquez made a sequence of errors during qualifying at Motegi.Márquez flew to the top of the time sheets during the early stages of the session but abandoned his first attempt on the second run after a messy opening sector.Márquez followed Rossi on his second run but went wide at Turn 11, while the Italian rider continued untroubled and clocked a 1:43.954, 0.180s faster than Márquez.Márquez tried to respond on his final effort but backed off at Turn 5 due to yellow flags, leaving pole in Rossi's hands, despite sitting only sixth before setting his pole time.It is the third...
