The session was red-flagged at the very end when Dupasquier fell in front of Sasaki on the exit of Turn 9. Sasaki was launched into the air, but it was Dupasquier who required lengthy medical treatment at the track (which is why the following MotoGP FP4 session is delayed). The arrival of an air ambulance underlined the seriousness of the incident for Dupasquier.
