Marc Marquez shattered the Silverstone MotoGP lap record to top FP2 despite crashing at Vale early in the session. Marquez was on the pace immediately, shaving nearly half-a-second from his best FP1 effort to record a 2:00.186 to lead the times early on. Most riders then focussed on long runs for the bulk of the 45 minute practice, prioritising the hard compound Michelin, before qualifying simulations became the order heading into the closing minutes.
