Marc Marquez said that he is not sliding like he wants as he focused on used tyre runs on the opening day of free practice for the German MotoGP at the Sachsenring. The World Champion arrived in Germany heavy favourite after dominating every race he has had there since his 125cc days and used the opening day to work on race pace and tyres ahead of Sundays race. Marquez elected to not go for the one lap pace with soft tyres like fastest man Jorge Lorenzo did, instead doing longer runs on harder rubber to try and figure out what combination to use for the race.
