Espargaro seals new two-year MotoGP Aprilia deal
The Aprilia MotoGP team has announced it will retain Aleix Espargaro through the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Espargaro, a premier-class podium finisher with Forward Yamaha, joined Aprilia from Suzuki on a two-year deal in 2017, finishing in 15th place overall last year. Frequent mechanical problems have made his and Aprilia's start to 2018 a frustrating one, and the Spaniard admitted earlier this year that he needed to see improvement from the RS-GP bike to commit to a renewal. His new two-year deal means the 28-year-old Spaniard's MotoGP tenure is set to encompass at least 10 full seasons. “I am very happy to stay with Aprilia for another two years," Espargaro said.
