Ducati's Andrea Iannone was denied his second MotoGP pole of the season at the Circuit of the Americas by Marc Marquez's late flying lap, but the Italian was happy with the progress made with the dry set-up of his GP15 nonetheless. Dovizioso topped the time-sheets until the dying moments when Marquez usurped the GP15 rider to clinch pole in dramatic style on his spare Repsol Honda after experiencing a technical problem on his number one bike.
