MotoGP Phillip Island: Rossi penalised for overuse of wet front tyre

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi ended the opening wet MotoGP free practice at practice at Phillip Island dead last after his laptimes were cancelled by race direction. Rossi had been sitting pretty in second place on timesheets but was found to have used the super-soft front wet for more than the ten laps allowed, so those were stricken from history. “Valentino Rossi was found to have used the 1008B Super Soft Full Wet Front Tyre more than 10 laps, so he was imposed a cancellation of the lap times during the run where the 1008B tyre was used illegally,” said a sanction statement.
