Barbera to replace Iannone at Motegi, Jones in at Avintia

The injured Andrea Iannone will be replaced for this weekend’s MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi by Avintia Racing rider Hector Barbera. Ducati did not originally confirm a replacement for Iannone when the team announced he will not be racing in Japan due to an injury sustained at Misano. But Avintia rider Barbera will now move over to replace Iannone and race alongside Andrea Dovizioso at Ducati for this weekend’s race. Australian Superbike racer Mike Jones will make his MotoGP debut with Avintia, filling in for Barbera at Motegi. “I’m very happy because I’ve waited a long time for an opportunity like this and this weekend it becomes reality,”...
