Ducati: Using safety as an excuse to ban winglets "dangerous"

Ducati MotoGP boss Gigi Dall’Igna has re-iterated his disappointment at the sport’s decision to ban winglets at the end of the season, saying safety has been used as an excuse to hamper his team. It was announced in June that the aerodynamic devices, which Ducati pioneered last year, will not be permitted in 2017, following similar bans in Moto3 and Moto2 this season. While other teams had expressed safety fears as well as aesthetic concerns associated with winglet development, Ducati made clear its frustration with the decision, believing the ban to be targeted at reducing its competitiveness.
