Second on the grid for today’s German MotoGP, Fabio Quartararo made the perfect start to race day by topping morning warm-up at Sachsenring.

The Monster Energy Yamaha rider headed out on a used hard front (10 laps) and a medium rear (22 laps) before staging a late charge.

Quartararo’s time of 1:21.341s dislodged Pol Espargaro who spent much of the session fastest from fellow Honda rider Takaaki Nakagami. The two Honda riders remained in that order and finished 2-3.

Starting one place behind Quartararo in today’s German Grand Prix is Aleix Espargaro who endured a rough warm-up session.

The Aprilia rider first crashed at turn 5, before running off-track at turn 1 on his second bike. Espargaro did manage to set a time good enough for tenth position though.

Joan Mir was back inside the top ten after a disastrous qualifying session. The Suzuki rider has had good race pace so far this weekend, but one lap performance continues to hold the world champion back.

Like Mir, it was a much better start to race day for the Yamahas of Franco Morbidelli and Maverick Vinales.

Morbidelli was fifth fastest, while Vinales was one place further back in sixth. Francesco Bagnaia was the top Ducati in seventh position, as Jack Miller and pole man Johann Zarco could only manage 19th and 16th respectively.

Marc Marquez was eighth quickest aboard the second factory Honda machine, with Jorge Martin ninth fastest.

The cooler conditions seen in warm-up compared to most of the weekend so far could be a sign of unpredictable weather that's forecasted for the race.
