Updated MotoGP calendar after flyaways cancelled

This is the updated 2020 MotoGP calendar, following official confirmation that all remaining flyaway events have been cancelled this season.

Argentina, Thailand and Malaysia thus join the previous nine MotoGP events already called off due to the coronavirus, with a new 'to-be-announced' European round (heavily rumoured to be Portimao) has been added after Valencia on November 22.

Further details of the new venue 'will be confirmed on Monday the 10th of August'.

While the new venue is yet to be officially named, it is now clear that this year's MotoGP calendar will feature 14 races (15 for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, which raced in Qatar) compared with the original 20 rounds.

Looking ahead, the Thai round at Buriram - the biggest event of last season in terms of spectator number with 226,655 weekend fans - has also extended its MotoGP agreement until at least 2026.

Dorna has also begun working with the Promoters of the Argentina and Malaysian GPs to 'define possible dates to propose to the FIM for the events in 2021'.

FIM President Jorge Viegas said: "I would like to thank Dorna, all the teams, the national federations and local organisers for enabling us to get back on track. In doing so, we adapt every day and we will have a very complete and competitive FIM MotoGP World Championship in 2020. The location of the 15th Grand Prix will be announced soon, and we will be back - stronger than ever!"
