Vinales secures maiden MotoGP victory at Silverstone

Maverick Vinales scored his first victory in the MotoGP series at Silverstone, ending Suzuki’s nine-year win-less streak. He lined up in third place for the British Grand Prix after a strong qualifying effort in tricky conditions, behind pole-sitter Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi. Vinales moved into the lead at the start, quickly pulling out a gap over those behind him before the race was stopped. This was due to a heavy crash at Maggotts between Pol Espargaro and Loris Baz. At the second start Crutchlow led away but Vinales soon found himself out front. He soon built up a sizeable lead, proving to be unbeatable at Silverstone.
