Silverstone MotoGP: Crutchlow masters rain for home pole

Cal Crutchlow once again took advantage of wet conditions to secure pole position for his home MotoGP round at Silverstone, lapping nearly a full second clear of nearest rival Valentino Rossi. With a mesmerising laptime of 2m19.265s, Crutchlow became the first home rider to take a premier class pole for the British Grand Prix since Barry Sheene in 1977. It is the third career pole for the LCR Honda rider, and his first since Brno 2013. Yamaha rider Rossi and Suzuki's Maverick Vinales, respectively 0.998s and 1.249s off the pace, join Crutchlow on the front row, while Repsol Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez - whose pole bid was ruined by a late crash at Copse with two minutes to go -...
