Vinales: Rossi didn’t affect my decision to join Yamaha
Maverick Vinales says that his decision to leave the Suzuki MotoGP team in favour of Yamaha next season was not in any way influenced by the prospect of having Valentino Rossi as a teammate. It was confirmed back in May that Vinales will move across to join Rossi at Yamaha next season in place of the Ducati-bound Jorge Lorenzo. Having offers to both jump ship and stay put at Suzuki, the 21-year-old rider made little attempt to hide his indecision before finally reaching a conclusion shortly after the Le Mans race, which was dominated by Yamaha.
