MotoGP switches to Barcelona F1 layout after rider death
MotoGP will switch to the Formula 1 layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the remainder of the Catalan Grand Prix weekend, following the death of Moto2 rider Luis Salmon on Friday. The Spaniard succumbed to injuries he sustained during a practice crash at Turn 12 - a high-speed corner which hasn't been used by Formula 1 drivers since 2007, as the run-off doesn't feature a gravel trap to slow cars or bikes down. The F1 layout bypasses this corner thanks to the addition of a chicane, which was added to slow the cars down.
