Maverick Vinales leads Valentino Rossi in Silverstone first practice

Maverick Viñales led a Yamaha 1-2 in first practice for the British Grand Prix, pipping team-mate Valentino Rossi by almost two-tenths. The 2016 winner posted a best tome of 2:02.073 to top the timing screens, beating Rossi by 0.189s to give the Yamaha team a perfect start to the weekend. Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso just missed out on splitting the duo though as he finished just 0.001s adrift of his fellow Italian rival with a time of 2:02.263. Home favourite Cal Crutchlow, on the back of signing a new deal with LCR Honda through 2020, was fourth quickest, 0.328s off Viñales’ benchmark, with Jack Miller finding a bit of form to round out the top five on his...
