MotoGP Assen: Marquez wins race of the year (so far…)

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez has taken victory in today's thrilling MotoGP race at Assen, pulling the pin with three laps to go and crossing the line with a 2.2s victory over Suzuki's Alex Rins who mugged Maverick Vinales on the final run through Ramshoek. Marquez was involved in a colossal scrap with Valentino Rossi, Vinales and Andrea Dovizioso for most of the race after early leader Jorge Lorenzo shot his tyre by half distance. The Repsol Honda man, who survived a massive moment on the exit of Strubben which would have seen anyone else crash, kept his powder dry and dropped into the 1'34s to pull a gap with three laps left.
