Dovizioso tops rain-hit first day at Motegi

– Andrea Dovizioso set the pace on a wet opening day of practice for the Japanese Grand Prix, as Ducati team-mate Jorge Lorenzo escaped from a nasty incident.With both 45-minute sessions taking place on a soaked Motegi circuit, Dovizioso worked his way down to a 1:54.877 in FP2, six-tenths quicker than the FP1 benchmark.Marc Márquez, who topped FP1, finished 0.043s back, despite a late crash through Turn 4, with Aprilia's Aleix Espargaró ending the day third fastest.Lorenzo wound up fourth, after taking a big hit in FP1, when LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow lost control at Turn 9 and slammed into the side of his bike.Both riders escaped unharmed, though Lorenzo was visibly shocked....
