MotoGP star Valentino Rossi has admitted he was “desperate” in the early going of the Czech Grand Prix as he struggled to get heat into his hard-compound rear tyre, before recovering to finish second. Rossi slumped to 12th in the early laps, having chosen the hard rear tyre while most of his frontrunning rivals took the soft that gave much more feeling in the opening laps. “I wasn’t worried, I was desperate!” exclaimed Rossi. “Because I say ‘I do another mistake today’ [laughs].
