MotoGP Catalunya: Early Bastianini surge secures Moto3 pole

An early run of laps by Enea Bastianini saw the Italian claim his first pole position of the 2018 season ahead of Jorge Martin and Tatsuki Suzuki. The Italian has had an indifferent start to life with the Leopard team replacing 2017 Moto3 World Champion Joan Mir but an early run of laps on his own saw him post a 1.48.806 on just his fourth lap of the session. Qualifying specialist Martin could only manage second place, 0.107 off of Bastianini’s time. It was an eventful session for the World Championship favourite.
