Outgoing Suzuki rider Andrea Iannone comfortably leads FP1 at Mugello

Andrea Iannone headed wildcard Michele Pirro by over half a second in the opening practice session for the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix. Suzuki rider Iannone confirmed on Thursday at Mugello that he will be departing the Hamamatsu factory at the end of the year, with rumours linking him to Aprilia and a return to Pramac, for whom he rode in 2013 and '14. Jorge Lorenzo, whose future is also uncertain, guided his Ducati to the top of the timesheets in the early stages of FP1 with a 1m49.132s, and reclaimed first place from former teammate Valentino Rossi on his follow-up tour with a 1m48.395s.
